Last Day of Camp Skits

This is the first time that the sound has worked at the end-of-scout-camp-picnic!
Joshua is the 4th scout to speak.

Kaylah (of course) wants to be a gymnast AND a ballerina now...  she's the 1st one to tumble on the left.

Kaylah's Author Celebration

It looks like we can add Public Speaking to the list of things Kaylah is naturally good at!  Each student read 2 or 3 pages of the books they wrote in front of all the parents.  Kaylah memorized one of her pages instead of reading it, just for fun. :)  I took a picture first, so missed recording the beginning when she told the audience her book is "All About Butterflies"

2012 Dance Recital

Again, very poor quality videos... maybe by next June I'll have better equipment to work with! :)  In the ballet number, Kaylah starts in the front row and she's the second girl from the left.  It's super teeny-tiny because I forgot to zoom before I started to record and my camera doesn't allow zooming once you've started and I didn't want to stop to zoom in and miss part of the song!!! :)
*Also, watch Kaylah at 1 minute, 16 seconds... she sneaks an extra twirl in there! :)

In the tap number, still second from the left, but starting in the back row this time.  I moved up front and zoomed in, but Sasha moved with me, so is on my lap and not quite sitting still... try not to get motion sick watching it!! :)

Just the right age for snowball fights!

Their aim is poor enough that they have to be less than a foot away to hit anyone.
Their snowballs fall apart on impact (if they make it that far.)
They're completely covered in snow-gear so no one gets a wet snowball against skin.
They're giggly.
They're happy.
They're having fun!

Sasha+Snowball+ Mischievous Grin = TROUBLE!

Joshua started to make a fort to protect himself from his sisters...

Sasha decided to use a fort that was already there...

Then the trampoline became the source of all snowballs!

Kaylah's Baptisim

As some of you know, Kaylah has been asking our Pastor for a while if she could be baptized. (Bap-i-tized, when Kaylah pronounces it, it's a 3 syllable word!) We were caught a bit off-guard with the suddenness of today, but Kaylah is sweet and sincere and knew what she wanted. It was beautiful (when she was in the baptismal pool and Pastor Rich asked her why she had come forward today) to hear Kaylah, unrehearsed, tell the congregation that Jesus lives in her heart and that's why she wanted to be baptized.

I missed having family there, but am thankful that Kaylah knows she's loved and was too excited about the baptism to think about anything else! :) I only got two pictures, but here's a glimpse into Kaylah's special day:

First Day of School 2011

So... I posted the "good" picture on Facebook, but this one shows a bit more character! :)

As expected, Sasha had a great day. We went to the church for a Nursery meeting in the morning & she got to watch Peter Pan, we came home, had lunch, made monster chocolate chip cookies WITH m&m's (pure Sasha!), read a few stories & the bus brought Joshua & Kaylah back!

Also expected, Kaylah came home completely frustrated because they didn't LEARN anything today! All they did was write their numbers from 1-20!!! AND there was NO HOMEWORK!!! First graders are supposed to have homework. I explained that the first week will probably all be review, but it will get better each day & she still may get homework tomorrow.

Unexpectedly, Joshua had a great day!! He was still not convinced when he left for school this morning that he was quite ready to tackle this whole 3rd Grade Thing. He didn't have much homework tonight, it was easy (also review), and I had waaaayyyy more homework than he did (I had all those fun emergency medical, bus, field trip, PTO forms for both kiddos) which amused him. To top it all off, he was reading a book at the end of the school day and put it in his desk when the teacher came past assuming he was in trouble, but the teacher was happy that he was reading. It's still possible he'll get in trouble for reading out of turn before too long, but for now he's one happy camper. :)
