Adjusting to school

A month in, we're finally getting adjusted to Kindergarten! Joshua still doesn't want to go, but he's not coming home completely exhausted, so I think we're going to make it! We went for a haircut this week and they cut Joshua's super-short. It's hard to see in the picture, but the gal who cut it put gel in the front to make more stick up than just his cowlick- it was cute. (Kaylah had hers trimmed.. she doesn't want it long because "Mama's have long hair and she's a kid" but she wants it to touch the floor like a princess.)

Joshua had been sharing his newfound knowledge/activities with Kaylah... this evening we learned how to do jumping jacks! It was dusk, so the video's a little dark, but it's still pretty funny!

Starting School

I'm really behind now, so I'm going to move forward without posting the dozen other pictures I've been trying to get on here for a month now!

Joshua is officially a kindergartener! He was much more excited about school before he went than he is now, but I'm hopping another week with be all he needs to adjust right now he comes home very worn out and tells me "Kindergarten is hard work."

Kaylah wanted to see real ballerinas, so I searched for "ballet" on YouTube and she watched a 15 minute professional performance without blinking. I was ready to find something else after 5 minutes, but she wasn't finished soaking it in. When it did finish I searched for "ballet recitals" instead and those were two minute clips of 3-5 year olds and were very cute!

Sasha finally got Tooth #8 through last week and is now biting me again- it would be so nice if one of her teeth could just slip in unnoticed! She mastered the ladder going up to the slide on Wednesday, so she gets the video spot today! :) I apologize in advance just in case I can't figure out how to rotate the picture.

July Ohio Adventure

After our two months with no transportation, we hopped in the car and had very happy children for the 11 hour drive to Grandma & Grandpa's! We had an action packed couple of weeks with Uncle Zane & Aunt Cindy's wedding reception, playing with Baby Lucy ("Woo-see"), the "Holeski" girls trip to Amish country, the new swing set in Grandma & Grandpa's backyard, puppies & kittens to play with every day, the Nellies Community Yard Sales (where we found a robot for Joshua and some jewelry for Kaylah). watching for Grandpa & Uncle Tony on tv at the Indians game, the fishing and paddle boating adventures with Uncle Jim & Aunt Kecia, roasting hot dogs & marshmallows (lots of marshmallows under Aunt Suse and Uncle Bob's supervision), a sleepover at Aunt Amanda & Uncle Tony's, catching one lightening bug... and so much more! Sasha even managed to get Tooth #7 through after a few days of being miserable. I sent out a few pictures because I'm having trouble getting them on here for whatever reason. I'll keep working on it!

Sasha's 1st Birthday

Grumpy, grumpy Sasha!!

We were able to open presents (Joshua & Kaylah were very impressed with the jack-in-the-box from Grandma Buxton) before Sasha started screaming. Even the mini-chocolate chip cupcakes at lunchtime couldn't stop the tears. By bedtime we almost got a smile from the ice cream cone! :) I thought it was teething all day, but the next day I put Joshua to bed with a fever, so Sasha just may have had a bug that she passed on to him. Her 1-yr well-baby visit is tomorrow, maybe the doctor will be able to tell us if she's well or not.

lets try a video

I thought I'd start easy with some pictures last night, but the computer needed a time out. So- no pictures yet, but I just successfully emailed a 6-second video of Sasha walking to Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Amanda & Uncle Tony so I'm feeling over-confident! :)

HEY! It worked! Now I need to explain... I wanted to try to take a short video of Sasha walking and Kaylah wanted to dance with Sasha. Sasha decided to wear her pajama top as a shawl and when it slipped from her shoulders she tried to retrieve it right away. I stopped taking the video when she fell, but had I continued you would have seen her stand right back up and rearrange her shawl.

Joshua was playing with his legos in the next room and missed all the action, but thought the video was quite funny (we watched it 5 times before we had to stop to get Joshua in his pajamas and finish the job with Sasha.
